Summertime, And The Livin' Is Easy

Speaking from personal experience, I can attest that meditation is not easy-- even in the Summer!

For those of us who live North or South of the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn, that can be especially true-- summertime just seems to play naturally into habits of physical fitness and physical activity. But you know what? Summertime is also a great time for mental/emotional fitness.

Seated (or kneeling, or lying, or walking, or whatever one's preference may be) meditation outside is definitely different-- and it's wonderful. New sights, new sounds, new aromas, new flavors. New feelings! Summertime is a tremendous time to engage our senses-- to allow our senses to guide our formal meditation, and meditative moments. Going inside, by going outside-- I'm a big fan.

The present moment is certainly not always pleasant, but in the summertime the pleasant moments seem to come more frequently. Savor those moments, and celebrate them. Gather ye rosebuds while ye may. Even now, in the midst of a raging pandemic--especially now. The difficult moments will come. Let's enjoy the pleasant moments, when we can!

Carpe diem, and remember, the day consists of countless different moments. Seize them. Observe the moments, and be curious about them. Then let the moments pass, without attaching a particular cause, or significance, or outcome. Seasons come, and seasons go. The world turns, and revolves around the sun. We're just along, for the ride.

It's summertime, and the livin' is easy. So love it. And live it. Appreciate it, and let it be!
